Pro-Quake

Post by Gandelf »

I had the urge to play original Quake, but as you may or may not know, it won't run with Win XP. So, I searched the web and found a site that has a patch which allows you to play Quake in Win XP. It's really good and works brilliantly. You still need to install original Quake first, then run the patch. It was quite nostalgic playing the game again and I recommend it. The GL version gives you better resolution.

Thats odd - cos my Q1 works perfect without any patches.

Same :p

The original Quake in 320 x 200 is the only way to play it multiplayer too imo! none of this high res crap ;)

Now Quake... there was a game where balance wasn't something to complain about, learn the maps and get to the rocket launcher asap - all part of the challenge!

Quake was the only game that gave me motion sickness... I think because of the way you bob up and down as you run. I could only play it for about 20 minutes at a time, then I had to stop because of nausea. The high res version seems to help.

The other game that affected me was Tomb Raider... I used to get vertigo when Lara was on high ledges or pillars etc. I've never had a head for heights.

Makes me feel quite green just thinking about it! ill:

Duke Nukem 3D > Quake

I still remember how Duke Nukem 3D players felt Quake players are pussies, because they played with a mouse, which at that time wasnt considered as a gaming device :)

Anyway, Quake done quick

Morana, one of a few Rangers, that did not Zerg. Retired for good.

Actually, quake wasnt played with a mouse at start. Atleast I didnt.

Edit: I would also like to point out that I personally concider those two fps games to be 2 different kind of fps. They both rock.
