you obviously don't have kids. I often have these forums up on screen when my kids are in the same room as the computer and I would definitely be quite angry if there were pictures either erotic or porn.

I do not fancy getting into semiotics with my son until he has figured out the nature of the sign.

Once he has done that we will discuss the distinction between porn and eroticism. We will also talk about exploitation, women and male heterosexuality at the same time. If you can help we avoid having that conversation too early please do.

Ahh parents that shield thier children from the world..

No little jimmy the streets are made of chocolate and you can dance around lalalalalalalala. All the children have gum drop smiles and no one evvvvverrrrr suffers.

Every child I know that was shielded from the world (Some of my friends from school) now do weed often, drink more often and find a different whore every week.

i dont think its shielding.
its just that kids of a young age just wont understand even if you take 3hrs to explain it so may as well save the dodgy conversations for later til they can understand and you wont be wasting your time

yep thats about it. Sex is more difficult to explain to a 5 year old than aliens for example

I read a nice scientific article about when is the time to start talking about sexuality with your children. Basicly the point of the article was, as early as possible, somwhere around when they are 4 to 5 years old. As you said it yourself, you try to postpone talk about this issue, and thats the major problem, later it comes to this, harder it will be.
Besides, when children decide to have sex at the age of 15 or 16 nowadays, they are not likely to ask their parents to take em to a gynaecologist for a proper form of contraception if they never heard the word "booooobs" from their parents

Better to have an unpleasant talk now, than grandchildren 10 years later

Anyhow, Im way off the topic now, I didn't post any serious pr0n, there were no pubic hair seen, and brests were shown from a profile... very tastefull in my opinion

Every time I walk past tobacco shop in our street I see much more hardcore hairy-mary style frontpages on display, and so do 6 years old kids that pass it each day when going to the school

I read scientific articles every day HappyG. I don't plan to be doing evidence based parenting.

The point both of you are missing is that having something here when I don't plan to see it, possibly when my kids are in front of the screen, would remove my choice concerning when I want to talk about it. Thats my objection.

and I can assure you you do not need to explain anything to me about sex at an early age.
